Walkin' on Sunshine

It’s early June. The start to a 3-month period of pure bliss otherwise known as: summer time. The sun is beaming in the sky, begging you to come out and play. You think there’s nothing better than a walk down the avenue to end your day.  And even though the sun will go down in a few hours, the fog hasn’t rolled in for once, and it’s still beautiful out. Blue skies, sunshine, and two adorable puppies by your side – what more could you want? Well maybe just the perfect shoes to help you celebrate the occasion of course!
Lori’s Shoes contacted us to guest blog for them and we were lucky enough to be given the sweetest sandal wedges you could possibly imagine.
And in piping hot red to boot!

Think Pink

I have been obsessed with the color pink lately, all shades of it really. And ever since I saw that picture from Fashion week of That Girl in the hot pink suit I knew I needed to find some perfectly Pink pieces.  Then one day out of the blue, at my local Anthropologie a woman returned this hot pink chiffon maxi skirt in my size. And yup, you guessed it I snatched it right up.

Camilla and I went shopping in Santa Monica this past Friday and stopped off at Zara for some great finds.
Wearing her new eyelet cropped cami from Free People and denim shirt and jeans from Urban Outfitters.

We found this amazing pink dress and shoes.
If you are wondering why Camilla is covered in band aids, it's because she took a tumble on her bike, her last week at school.

Camilla ended up buying these perfect fitting hot pink pants.

And I found the pink blazer I had been looking for in a cotton pique fabric so it almost looks a bit vintage.

I am also loving my new Navy Leather Jacket my husband picked up for me last weekend at the Alpine Stars sample sale

Sorry, but we had to end by putting up this video from the movie Funny Face.
It was a little too fitting for the post and Kay Thompson's character as the editor of a high fashion magazine was most obviously inspired by Diana Vreeland of Vogue.

White Swan

"I felt it - perfect. It was perfect..."
-Nina, Black Swan

Inspired by the movie "Black Swan" we wanted to do our own interpretation of  White Swan using the winter beach sky.

During the winter months, the sunsets are some of the most intense. As the sun goes down on the horizon there is a small amount of time that the light hits the sand first turning the beach from the dark, gloomy, cold winter into a radiating warmth of light. As you feel the sun hit your body it awakens the spirit as if you are being reborn.

In order to capture the light just right we grabbed Emmett after school as our assistant. When we arrived at the beach we were a gasp at the beauty, even though we sometime take it for granted.
As I started to to shoot Camilla on the soft sand, Emmett kept saying that we needed to go down into the water because the reflection of the sun on the water was perfect. I was hesitant at first because it was so cold and the water even colder. But, he was right and Camilla, as always, loved getting right into the water and wet sand. Emmett and I took turns with the camera and light disc reflector trying to capture the beauty as we both saw it.

Every Picture Tells A Story

When Lori's Shoes contacted us about doing another shoot for their blog and web store we were more than delighted and up for the task.
Visions of rock stars and fashion icons of the past streamed through our heads when we first saw the tan fringe bag by Cut N Paste. The warm carmel color of the leather and the soft, distressed look, gave the illusion that the bag already had a rich history. Inspired by Rolling Stones girlfriend Anita Pallenberg and Beatles gal Patti Boyd, we immediately decided to style the new bag with textures and pieces that evoked the rock chick’s vibe.
"There goes a gal, In the pretty skirt with a golden smile
That made you feel new"
Bella by Angus and Julia Stone
"There she sits with them big old field of daisies and rusty mills.
And when the sun it shines on her hair of gold,
She's beautiful"
