Speed Queen

Hitting the Fluff N Fold seemed like the perfect place to shoot Camilla's new vintage dresses. There was actually a lot of people doing their laundry that afternoon so we had to work around them and strategically move the cart of clothes to block them from view. It was quite a challenge but what could we do it was the only time we had to shoot. We never even got to photograph the blue dress on, because the afternoon was getting away from us and even though Camilla did a quick change out at the car (surfer style) we got the last bit of light when we shot the pink one.
Mixing big chunky platform shoes and anklets is a fave look right now and with the vintage length of the dresses it fit perfectly to the theme.
Our vision, was a cross between Betty Draper and Sandra Dee with just a dash of Lolita in the mix.
To end the post we added a little retro fun with Stockard Channing
singing  "Look at me, I'm Sandra Dee"

Enjoy the weekend!

Vintage Dresses

I was given these beautiful vintage dresses from my friend Andrea. She has the best style and mixes vintage with new impeccably. The dresses are in mint condition and adorable on. I was so flattered she passed them on to me! We promised to use them in photo shoot as the only stipulation but we wanted to just give you a tiny preview because I am so excited. We are discussing ideas for the shoot and hope to get to it soon. So stay tuned.

UNMASKED

Camilla is wearing Jean Paul Gaultier suspenders skirt with Jean Paul Gaultier Jacket underneath from his 1987 collection. The other day I was going through some files of images I kept before we all started saving our images on computers.  When I came across a file folder labeled "Random Cool Stuff" and inside was this invite (a mask of JPG's face) to a party at the Palladium for a Jean Paul Gaultier look alike contest.  The winner would be flown to Paris to model in his show.  I don't remember the party sorry, but the invite is still cool:)
In the 80's I loved John Paul Gaultier and still own a fair share of his pieces. The jackets are a bit too big in the shoulders for today but I can't part with any of it. The skirt Camilla is wearing I wore all the time with Doc Martens or these awesome menswear shoes by Comme des Garcon. We decided to put it together the way it was meant to be worn by the designer. But Camilla plans to be wearing the skirt for now on with a tee shirt instead.

We are off to a mini road trip up the coast today.
Hope you enjoy!

Sweet Disposition

dis⋅po⋅si⋅tion

–noun
1. the predominant or prevailing tendency of one's spirits; natural mental and emotional outlook or mood; characteristic attitude: a girl with a pleasant disposition.

Hi, first we want to start by thanking everyone who wrote such sweet, touching comments for dear little Jasmina. The service was a beautiful celebration of her very short life. I was in New York for 5 days and returned home late Thursday night, just missing the snow storm. My welcome home was to 2 days of rain. Camilla and I had planned to do our Gigli shoot over the weekend and Sunday turned out to be the most beautiful, perfect day. After a good rain storm the sky's are always bright blue and the clouds all white and fluffy. It's like the rain washed away the smog. We named the shoot Sweet Disposition because that is the way we are choosing to live from now on. We were inspired by Jasmina and how she chose to live her short life.

With the shoot we wanted to capture the Gigli feeling but make it wear now. We mixed our vintage Gigli skirt with a midnight blue Vintage jacket. Underneath was a Cerulean blue slip from Anthropolgie and a taupe wrap knit top by Velvet. Then we added knee hi's from American Apparel and Shoes by Jeffery Campbell from LF Boutique. The outfit was topped off with a hat by Billabong. Yes, I said Billabong, it just goes to show that you can find great pieces from lots of brands, even the surf industry. We bought the hat a while ago at this great little boutique in Manhattan Beach called The BeeHive.

In case you haven't heard LF Boutique is have their "Only Sale of The Season" with markdowns at 60% off. That's where we just bought the Jeffery Campbell shoes in this shoot.

Now a Big thank You to Rock and Revolution for the best blog award

So here are a few of the blogs we love and would like to pass this on to.

Well, this has been way to long of a post I hope you enjoy:)

Elsewhere

Sorry we have been bad bloggers this week, but we've been very busy with all the Thanksgiving festivities and just relaxing over break. To all our American readers, Happy (late) Thanksgiving! Hopefully you all had a lovely time. This is a continuation from our last post, or another spot Emmett introduced us to while we were out exploring. As you can see the mini tree house was pretty high. Let's just say, climbing up there in heels wasn't the best of ideas but, it made for a good picture.

The top is a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier from the late 80's and belted with a Anthropologie belt. The necklaces are a Rosary hand me down in the family and the metal pendent is vintage. The denim leggings with snaps are from LF boutique and the Maryjane heels are Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Hope you enjoy!

Into The Woods

Vintage fur wrap belted with vintage Moschino belt, denim leggings from LF boutique,Boots Miss Sixty and crop top with gloved sleeves Comme Des Garcon
This weekend Camilla and I wanted to find a new different spot to shoot some recent vintage finds mixed with a few of the designer archives I've saved from my youth. When Emmett heard about our shoot he said he had the perfect spot. So all of us Camilla, Emmett and I went to check it out, which was out into the woods to shoot. We deemed Emmett the location expert and assistant for the day which he was excellent at when he wasn't swinging through the trees, Literally!

The Hat Camilla is wearing is vintage Fred Hanson. The spot Emmet brought us to was fabulous and we ended up shooting two other pieces which we will be posting later. I think we will be going back again it's a lovely place and so secluded and peaceful.
