That Poetic Feeling

Oh what an amazing grey day, like a mix of Jay Gatsby and Daisy. The Juxtaposition of boys blazers with soft petal and blush colored dresses, mixing of structured and flowing, hard boots and soft sand. The colors of the day seemed calming and dreamy. A perfect day to while away the hours watching the waves on the shore.

CHANEL

Well, okay we are way behind, but yet another busy week! After going through the shows  from Paris and trying to decide on what to report we decided that the Chanel show was Rocking Fun. Oh my god, how can I express how much we loved the mix of textures in fabrics, the clogs, the hay and Live music by Lily Allen. Karl Lagerfeld is Genius and the collection so youthful and fun we both adored it.

Also the Chanel show had a lot of fabulous and wonderful people there who definitely understand fashion and know how to dress. Our Audience favorites were Sean Lennon and two beauties Irina Lazareanu and Kemp Muhl. One of our favorite photographers Ellen Von Unwerth was also on hand looking amazing in her 50's wearing skinny pants and boots. Yeah Ellen!

Irving Penn 1917-2009

Irving Penn, one of the most famous and amazing fashion, portrait and still life photographers of his time died Wednesday at the age of 92. Irving Penn believed in the aesthetic that "less is more" and brought that out in his photography by isolating his subjects without barely using a prop. Below we have posted some of his work and some of our favorites in tribute to him. The Getty museum  here in Los Angeles has some of his work on display from the early 50's The exhibit is called Small Trades and runs through January 10, 2010.

Rie Rasmussen

 

 

If you don't know her yet, Rie Rasmussen is someone you definitely need to know.  Rie is a model, Actress, Director, Artist and Photographer. These are her Self portraits in front of her own Art. I absolutely love the illustrations and Photos and I think she is pretty great herself.

Recylce or Rebloom

Lately we have been on a mission to find vintage clothes and reconstruct them into our own. As of right now we've been looking for young boys sweaters and blazers, actually size 12 works best for us. The sleeve length is a perfect bracelet length but still fits our shoulders. On an outing the other day we found this boys wool sweater that we cut the sleeves and neckline then added the black fringe. It then became so new and current and oh so lovely. We put it with our vintage silk skirt made into a dress and belted it.

This is Camilla and Frankie before our Byron Lars shoot. We just loved the feel of the Flowers with both the dresses I had to photograph the girls twice.

What's In Bloom?

About a month ago I received in the mail the most beautiful dress from my good friend and talented designer Byron Lars. Every time I wear it I get tons of complements and people want to know where I got it from. I've been dying to shoot it but I wanted to feature it by pairing it up next to the right dress. Then when going through my closet Camilla and I pulled out this vintage silk skirt I've had forever and the color of the silk perfectly picked up the pink in Byron's dress. It was just begging us to call our friend Frankie and head on up to the Botanical Gardens for a photo shoot. So we threw the skirt on Camilla and belted it up as a dress and together the beauties Bloomed.

Yes, We did it Ourselves

Just for the record we love Free People. The clothes are wonderful and I am sure you have already noticed throughout our Blog that we own quite a few pieces. But, they just put up online these really cute vintage cowboy boots with the top cut off to make them new and priced them at 358.00.

That is just too expensive for vintage boots and cut up, so we decided to make them ourselves. All we did is go to the flea market and scour the area for cowboy boots with snake skin we found a pair that fit pretty good. Then came home and cut off the top!  No, they are not the perfect fit and yes they are a little different but I think it's pretty good likeness for 15 bucks! Don't you?

Shine On

It's been a pretty busy week, but it's finally the weekend and now i can relax. This is a great look for any Friday night to hit the town with your girlfriends like I am tonight. Take the opportunity to mix casual and dressy instead of throwing on the same old pair of jeans.
